What’s an alligator pear, you ask? Why, it’s only one of my most favorite fruits, the avocado! It is called the alligator pear for its rough skin and pear-like shape. I love avocados. Seriously, I can’t get enough of them. I like to eat them whole, with salt, in smoothies, as an ingredient in chocolate pudding, on sandwiches, in salads, and of course, in guacamole.
Now, I know you’ve probably heard that avocados are full of the healthy fats we need, but did you know they are also packed with other heart healthy vitamins and nutrients? Some vitamins and nutrients include: vitamin B, vitamin K, magnesium, iron, folate, and potassium. All of these nutrients combined with the antioxidants, anti-inflammatory properties and omega-3 fatty acids found in avocados improve your overall heart health. By adding them to salads and other meals, avocados will help you stay full longer.
My next avocado adventure will be making ice cream! What is your favorite way to eat an avocado?
