The main reason I got into juicing was my health. Juicing organic vegetables can definitely give you a boost of nutrients, but why not use the top notch? The best of the best? That’s why I used cabbage in this juice. It is such a powerhouse when it comes to supporting your health. Sometimes I make juices with a purpose, and the purpose of this juice was to include cancer prevention nutrients and liver-cleansing properties. The liver is a filter for all the toxins in our blood stream, so why not help it out every once-in-a-while?
Broccoli is a great cleanser and cancer prevention, too but again, it’s the cabbage that is the star in this juice. Purple cabbage (or red cabbage), has a higher content of nutritional benefits than green cabbage due to the increased phytonutrients. Some of these benefits include: cancer prevention, antioxidants, anti-inflammatory properties, and cardiovascular health. Cabbage contains indole-3-carbinole and sulforaphane, which aid in detoxification. All of these properties help with the health and function of your whole digestive tract. So much health power in one vegetable. Pretty cool right? 🙂
Recipe: (serves 1)
- 1/2 purple cabbage
- 4 carrots
- 1 broccoli stem
- 3 celery sticks
- 1 lime
- 1 inch ginger (optional)
Juice it all up and drink it all down!
Note: If you are new to cabbage juice, it can be a bit strong. You can add an apple (sans seeds) for a little sweetness to balance out the flavor.
